A cockatiel named Barney

A Miniature Pot-Bellied pig named Miranda

And a wonderful dog named Hannah Grace

We got Barney when he was just a couple of days old - he didn't even have his feathers yet.  After shoving mash down his throat for a few months, he was ready to eat on his own and try his wings.  He whistles Jingle Bells and the theme from the old Andy Griffith Show, and gets mad when his "mama" makes too much noise.

Miranda was born on my son's birthday, so we call her his twin.  She don't look much like him, but she's a lot prettier.  When she was a little girl, she was cute and we taught her some tricks.  Some of those tricks have back-fired now that she is a grown up grouch of 300 pounds.  Don't let anybody fib to you...."miniature" means as compared to a normal hog which weighs about 1000 pounds.  When Miranda gets hungry, she rearranges the furniture on the porch...most of it goes out into the yard.

Hannah has been a real wild lady since we got her but she finally got civilized and turned out to be a good girl. She helps pick up trash and puts the dirty laundry away for me. She has learned to fetch the mail and she almost feeds herself. If she could figure out how to use the can openeer, I would never have to get off the couch.

In addition to these guys, we also have a wild hog we caught in a trap. She had 6 piglets on 12/6/99 and we kidnapped one to try to tame. I'll let you know how it works out.

Wild hogs tame down real good. Millie (short for Millenium) is convinced that she's a dog. She follows us around, responds to a whistle and her best buddy is a dog named Rhett. Millie belongs to a good friend and they're real pleased with the way she turned out. We finally got all our other pigs into the freezer. We did learn a valuable lesson - we're not pig farmers .
