What are the system requirements?
Browser: Internet Explorer 5.01 or higher, Netscape versions 4.07 through 7.1, Opera, Mozilla, Firefox.
OS: Win98, Win Me, Win XP, Win 2000.
Hardware: PC, 2MB of disk space and 3 MB RAM.
Why is there a monthly charge for TurboSurf?
Eastex Net has made hardware and software investments specifically for the TurboSurf product. Additionally, we are assessed a per-user monthly license fee by the manufacturers of the TurboSurf software. By offering this as an optional service, Eastex Net can limit the additional costs to our customers who find this to be a valuable service. We have found TurboSurf to be a cost-effective method of enhancing the speed and experience of using the internet, especially for our Dial-Up customers who have no other means of increasing their bandwidth.
Why do I get the “Service Access Denied” screen, which blocks me from going in to the Internet?
The “Service Access Denied” screen will appear when an incorrect USERNAME and/or PASSWORD was entered during the TurboSurf installation process, or if you cancelled your account and did not uninstall the TurboSurf client software.
To correct your USERNAME and PASSWORD, Right click the Accelerator icon, select Repair, Enter the your correct USERNAME and PASSWORD and follow all remaining prompts through completion.
To uninstall the TurboSurf software, Right click the Accelerator icon and select "Un-install".
Does TurboSurf work with DSL?
YES! TurboSurf is available for DSL too! You can even speed up your DSL connection with TurboSurf! See the end of this page to download the DSL version of TurboSurf or click HERE.
Can I use TurboSurf along with my Firewall?
All firewalls must be set to allow full internet access to Pxui.exe and Pxclient.exe files.
What about McAfee?
McAfee prompts you to "Grant access" or "block" the TurboSurf file (pxclient.exe), once you click on "Grant access" it will continue to work as before. In case you’ve already clicked on "block" by mistake, please do the following:
Click on Personal Firewall
Click on view the internet application list
Click on the Pxclient.exe (on the list)
Click on Allow full access (on the right).
What about Norton Internet Security?
Norton will prompt you to "permit" or "block" the TurboSurf file (pxclient.exe), once you click on "permit" it will continue to work as before. In case the "block" option was chosen by mistake, please perform the following:
Double click on the Norton Internet Security icon (the little blue and green globe on the system tray).
Click on Personal Firewall and then click on "Configure"
Click on Programs, under Manual Programs Control
Look for Pxclient.exe on the list and change it to "Permit all" instead of "Block all".
Click OK.
What about XP sp2?
If you encounter difficulties connecting to the internet, after installing TurboSurf, with Win XP SP2, please do the following:
Click on Start – Settings – Control Panel
Click on Windows Firewall (Make sure “don’t allow exceptions” is not checked)
Click on Exceptions
Check Pxclient
Click OK.
How do I temporarily disable the TurboSurf?
Right click the Accelerator icon on your taskbar and select “Disable”.
The Accelerator will remain Disabled until it is “Enabled” again.
